The Practice

Rebecca S. Covell concentrates her practice in the areas of estate planning, probate and business transactions. She advises clients regarding various business entities for startups and provides ongoing general counsel advice to small and medium sized companies. Rebecca also handles the negotiations of commercial leases for landlords and tenants. Her business practice is transaction-oriented and includes the negotiation and preparation of contracts and loan documents for sellers and purchasers.

Additionally, Rebecca works with clients whose needs include the formation and operation of limited liability companies, partnerships and corporations, as well as other aspects of business law.

Experience

Rebecca served as a briefing attorney to the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri, the Honorable Russell G. Clark. Thereafter, she relocated to Dallas where she served as a briefing attorney to the Honorable Robert W. Porter, United States District Judge, Northern District of Texas. Following that, she was a commercial litigator for Sifford & Pezzulli and then for Pezzulli & Associates. In 1990 Rebecca established her own firm.

Rebecca is also a member of the bars of Texas and Missouri and is licensed to practice in state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court. She is also a member of the Dallas Bar Association and participates in the estate planning and probate and SOGII sections of the bar.

As a former member of the national board of directors for the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), Rebecca is active in the local HRC community as an advisor to the DFW Federal Club and a member of the North Texas LGBT Chamber of Commerce. She is also a former chair of the Women’s Business Network, mentors young lawyers, and provides volunteer legal services for the Legal Hospice of Texas.

Rebecca is a frequent lecturer and has made presentations to audiences on a wide range of topics within her areas of concentration, such as estate planning, business and real estate transactions.
